MAC Construction Groundbreaking for Heavy Haul Route in Jeffersonville

On November 1, 2019, MAC Construction attended the Heavy Haul Route Groundbreaking ceremony in Jeffersonville. In attendance was Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore, Kathy Eaton-McKalip, Director of LPA/MPO Grant Administration for  INDOT, project representatives, and leaders from the community and local businesses.

This ceremony marked the start of construction on the latest segment of the Transportation Corridor between River Ridge Commerce Center and the Port of Indiana at Jeffersonville via S.R. 265 and Old Salem Road. This segment will provide continuous transportation for heavy haul vehicles.

As the chosen Contractor for this project, MAC Construction is honored to be a part of a project that will benefit our community and businesses.

The new two-lane roadway with a budget of $14.5 million will be designed to sustain vehicle weights up to 134,000 pounds, thus meeting Heavy Haul standards.

INDOT’s designation of the route for Heavy Haul transportation of large equipment provides convenience and a money-saving opportunity for companies, as tractor-trailers hauling freight will not need a paid permit to do so.

As part of the project, a new bridge will be constructed over Lentzier Creek, with the route expected to open by the end of 2021.

MAC Construction is proud to be trusted to construct this critical new infrastructure in Southern Indiana.
